How JACQUELINE KENNEDY ONASSIS died: Remembered for her contribution to the arts and impeccable style, Jackie, as he was known by many, died in 1994 because of a lymphoma. Jackie, after the death of John F. Kennedy, was married to the Greek magnate Aristotle Onassis, until his death in 1975, while they were processing their divorce. And spent the last years of his life with Belgian industrialist Maurice Tempelsman.
In November 1993, while participating in a fox hunt, she fell off her horse and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors noted that her lymph glands had swollen, but were associated with an infection. By December of that year, Onassis had developed new symptoms, and that was when she was diagnosed with non-hodgkin lymphoma, which is a type of cancer.
Despite initiating the necessary treatments immediately, the cancer of Onasis was very advanced, and by May 1994 had spread to his liver. She died at her New York residence on May 19, surrounded by her family and friends.
After a private funeral, Jacqueline was buried next to her first husband (Kennedy), in the national cemetery of Arlington, Virginia.
